Gnomefiles just pointed me to a small python script that will generate a wallpaper with your local weather forecast. The script is named “weather wallpaper” and I have just submitted a gentoo ebuild for it.
On my system it works fine, there is just one drawback: your city needs a 4-letter NOAA weather code, numeric codes are not supported.

Right now Google is promoting some kind of online game (I suppose) about the new Bourne movie. It is easily accessible via http://www.google.com/bourne - but obviously Linuxers are not needed to find Bourne:
